I can feel the heat when I place my hand on the case window. I have 5 fans on the case so there is airflow. I'm wondering if I can disable the boosting of the card it runs pretty constant at some mhz. Get it running at a stable clock speed that doesn't put out so much heat.
My last card was a gtx classified doesn't even come close to the heat this thing outputs. LowkiApr 25, Does anyone else feel these cards run way to hot? Just out of curiosity. Ofcourse I could just alter the clocks with afterburner. Wish nvidia would put oc settings in the drivers or atleast have a dual bios switch for a less aggressive bios. What fan speed? I've been using the card pretty much since launch, maybe I can tell you if it looks wrong.
But you need to actually say what is going on. That being said, no I don't have any issues. My settings give me a boost clock ofusually locked at Using my own fan curve, temps rarely go above 64 C on a hot day.Is The Galax THEE Coolest Running RTX 2070 Super?
Also you need to understand how heat works. With a smaller cooler, the GPU would still create the same amount of heat. What matters is whether that heat is just cooking the GPU core, or being dissipated into the air. Example, if your GPU says it's 80 C, then you ramp the fan speed up and now it says its 60 C, that doesn't mean less heat is being generated by the GPU.
It means you have managed to push more of the heat from the GPU core to the air. Which yes, can make things like the CPU hotter. Last edited: Apr 25, CyberdyneApr 25, Its a big chip, should be no surpise, die area is similar in size to the ti.
I just noticed something as well. My card has an 8 and a 6 pin input. Maybe just a placebo but the card seems to be running a bit cooler now.As a result of the die shrink from 28 to 16 nm, Pascal based cards are more energy efficient than their predecessors. The GTX is rated at just Watts.

Currently it looks like there will be two variants, a low power 80 Watt variant with - MHz core clock and a faster 90 Watt variant with - MHz core clock.
The clock is not the only difference compared to the regular GTX though. The drivers for the Max-Q version were optimized for efficiency and not performance; only for Max-Q modelsthere are optimized voltage converters for 1V operation, high-end cooling methods, and a 40 dB limit for the fan noise with clock adjustments to ensure this at all times. Therefore, it should be able to run all demanding games in x with maximum details.
Raytracing features however may reduce framerates a lot. The following benchmarks stem from our benchmarks of review laptops. The performance depends on the used graphics memory, clock rate, processor, system settings, drivers, and operating systems.

I actually have the stock cooler replaced with a water block combined with a mm radiator in an open loop. Core temperature stays 55c max. Last edited: Feb 19, Meanwhile, the RTX Super is a boosted version of the original for the same price. Nvidia has teased it'll have We don't expect it to reach Ti levels of performance but it should be a nice boost overall nonetheless, again, for the same price.
The latest drivers available at the time of testing have been used and all the data was gathered fresh for this review. We have 12 games to look at before the usual performance breakdowns and cost per frame data. First up we have Battlefield V and here we see the Super bridging the gap between the andnot a massive performance boost but not bad either.
Meanwhile the RTX Super looks Another instance of a good but not particularly impressive result given the increase in price.
Moving on we have Metro Exodus, here the Super was nipping at the heels of the Radeon VII, falling short by just a few frames per second. This also meant it was much closer to the RTX than it was the Here we have another racing simulator in Forza Horizon 4 and coincidentally this is another great title for AMD. Moving on to some Far Cry New Dawn testing and here we see the Super right behind the while the Super is right behind the Finally we have Assassin's Creed: Odyssey However once we factor in the entire system draw those margins are reduced substantially.
There are some interesting changes here when measuring power draw from the wall. Moving on into operating frequencies, temperatures, fan speeds and a little overclocking. Moving on to the Super and we see out of the box the Founders Edition model peaked at just 68 degrees with a fan speed of RPM, and this allowed it to maintain an operating frequency of MHz.
Overclocked our sample maintained an operating frequency of MHz. The card was only running at 71C with a fan speed of RPM, so it was incredibly quiet. With all that performance data behind us, let's make full sense of it. Surely that GPU is on the way out, but at least in the short term it delivers good value. At least relative to existing RTX parts the Super does look like a good deal.
Without a price cut the Radeon VII can be declared dead at this point. Running a true cost per frame analysis can be a little tricky at launch since cards can be more expensive initially until things settle, and full discounts on older models are not realized until later as well.
For that reason we're running an MSRP comparison before we look at the current asking prices. Thankfully the Super is better value than the Price to performance the Super is technically better value, but you expect that with lower end parts. The Founders Edition cards we tested ran cool and very quiet, the build quality is excellent and they look nice.
Benchmarks First up we have Battlefield V and here we see the Super bridging the gap between the andnot a massive performance boost but not bad either. I just received this card today and I'm running it though its paces with Witcher III, temps are about 75c ambient is 21c with default settings. I will lower the target temp in XOC default is 81 and set up a more agressive fan curve but so far seems okay. Performance is great.
What does GPU-Z show for your chipset? If so i'd love to know if it came with or A upon tear down! Last but not least was yours via Step-Up or did you order direct? Emew42 zoltair. I will lower the target temp in XOC default is 81 and set up a more aggressive fan curve but so far seems okay.
I have the a. After finding out I had a bad intake fan on my case fractal define r4 and fixing that my temps came way down. As it ages I might pull the block and use a quality compound but I don't see a need yet.
Thats crazy low! What are the idle temps and do you have the fan always on? Also what PSU are you using? I have the G2. I think i should be good. Latest Posts.

I also had no intake fans i just in my case i literally got them today and my temperature changed to like Is there something wrong or am i just overthinking stuff? Thank you! If your card isn't downclocking to power-saving mode at idle, it would cause elevated GPU idle temperature and you should see Post 4 here for some reasons why.
Your temps are normal and acceptable, no worries. FTW Member. Can do better with some tweaking. If you post a pic of your case internals and some details of your setup people can help you dial it in. SSC Member. I also use a custom curve in MSI Afterburner, it looks like thisi also included a picture of the case.
I got two intake fans the second one is hidden nder the first one, no idea why i did that now when i think about it tbh. Attached Image s.
